KEEPIN’ IT GREEN

Young’s is committed to reducing our carbon footprint through a strategic alliance with our grower-partners and TruStar Energy. By harnessing a byproduct of the valley’s agriculture sector, Young’s will use Renewable Natural Gas (RNG) to power the future of California’s agricultural economy.

SUSTAINABLE FOOD, EVERY STEP OF THE WAY

RNG is pipeline-quality natural gas produced from the decomposition of organic wastes, which can come from a variety of sources such as landfill waste, waste treatment plants, and dairy farms.

Young’s is Partnering with TruStar to capture RNG from dairies in the Central Valley to power the delivery of Ag products.

BUILDING A MORE SUSTAINABLE FUTURE

Young’s is adding more CNG Trucks every year, with the goal of converting the entire fleet by 2025. By doing so we will continue to be an industry leader in sustainability.

THE CNG ADVANTAGE

CNG has many advantages over traditional gasoline or diesel. These include but are not limited to the following.

Price Stability: It is the most stable transportation fuel currently available with the ability to lock in prices for multi-year periods.

Safety: It is lighter than air with a much higher flashpoint than diesel or gasoline. This means that CNG will only ignite at an extremely hot temperature.

QuietCNG engines are dramatically quieter than diesel or gasoline.

CleanIt has the smallest carbon footprint of any current combustible fuel (one carbon atom). When available, RNG has a smaller carbon footprint than electric vehicles.

ProvenThere are 170,000 CNG vehicles in the US and 16 million vehicles worldwide.

SimplicityClean-burning fuel doesn’t require complex and costly after-treatment like diesel.

Domestically SourcedDomestic production insulates against price spikes and availability, unlike diesel.

THE CNG FUELING VALUE

TruStar has developed long term renewable natural gas (RNG) production facility contracts to market dairy gas as renewable gas which is transferred into Southern California Gas Company’s existing pipeline. They also partner with truck fleets in the central valley to distribute and use this RNG as fuel which saves money and helps to clean the air in the San Joaquin Valley.
